Honda CR-V Review

Surely, you will find many reasons why you have to buy first-rate vehicles from Toyota, Nissan, Suzuki or Volkswagen, but Honda CR-V will always be the standard when it comes to topnotch compact SUVs.

The third generation Honda CR-V is all about elegance and dynamic polish. For Australian drivers who have long been in search of the right compact SUV that delivers excellent steering, road holding and handling capability, Honda CR-V is second to none and the perfect choice. It boasts of well-appointed interiors, powerful 2.4 litre engine and ultra modern looks. It is no wonder why this compact SUV is acknowledged to be the power behind the Honda's amazing run in the Australian automotive market.

Honda has recently expanded its CR-V line with the release of its Special Edition variant. The price of the 6-speed model is $32,990 while the automatic transmission costs $2,000 more. The Special Edition boasts of added premiums including back-up sensors, alloy wheels, fog lights and roof racks. And this $3,000 worth of premiums can be had for only $1,000.

The third-gen Honda CR-V is hailed for its sedan-like handling. It has a more rigid frame, wider axle tracks and lower centre of gravity. Easily, this new model gains you a lot of pluses in the aspects where its predecessors score low. This new edition Honda CR-V carries its spare tyre underneath the cargo compartment and is now outfitted by a top-hinged type of tailgate.

Performance is not one of the brightest points of the Honda CR-V. Though it has an updated version of the 2.4 litre engine, we cannot expect a real kick from it with a power output at 125 kW. At best, we can say that the generated power output of the Honda CR-V is adequate.

Just like with its closest rival in the compact SUV segment, the Honda CR-V will not deliver topnotch performance under muddy and rugged terrain driving conditions. Nonetheless, it comes out as a reliable all-rounder, a perfect pick for those who are looking for a more balanced driving performance under varying conditions. And as with all vehicles Honda, the Honda CR-V is right on cue when it comes to superior production and engineering standards.
