This 2010 HSV Clubsport and Maloo FXP launch has been in the drawing boards for 12 months and is positioned as the company's offer of a lower-priced edition of its Clubsport and Maloo Commodore variants. However, these limited editions of Maloo ute and Clubsport sedan are not expected to clash head-on with FPV's GS sedan which is a lower-priced variant of Falcon GT. The positioning for this HSV GXP lines is more attuned to the prestige lines of European carmakers.
The limited editions of Maloo GXP and Clubsport sedan shall have tag prices of 53,990 and $59,990, respectively, while the FPV GS sedan is sold at $54,950. The HSV Maloo and Clubsport GXP are stripped-down editions of the E-Series lines. This GXP models shall feature modified braking systems and suspension tunes, and revised rear-end design.
The 2010 HSV Clubsport and Maloo GXP launch is inspired by the success of Pontiac GXP experience in the US. This limited GXP edition shall involve 400 units of Clubsport sedan and 350 units of Maloo ute. This competitive positioning is being instituted by HSV to win converts in the prestige vehicle segment presently dominated by European made cars. This shall be the main thrust of the launch while maintaining its adherence to topnotch performance and handling, as well as innovative design.
The 2010 HSV Clubsport and Maloo GXP launch aims to recover lost ground in the face of increasing sales by competing E2 variants that already have a significant 6-month lead time. The pricing scheme aims to provide the market with an affordable alternative to Clubsport VX Series.
The GXP limited edition sheds off the standard leather trim feature, while it retains common features such as the chrome elements of its external mirrors, side air vents and door handles. The distinctive silver engine cover underneath it Pontiac-style hood is what sets it apart from its HSV siblings. HSV has also decided to retain its cutting-edge stability control features in this limited HSV GXP line-up. This also includes premium extras such as rear park assist, satellite navigation and roof-mounted DVD player for the Clubsport GXP variant.
