The Australian market shall be the ultimate reckoning for the new light sedan — the Honda City.

This car has been the major push of Honda in its effort to gain a strong handle of the middle class segment across Southeast Asia and the Sub-continent. Down Under is its initial foray to developed market for the light sedan. It is being positioned as a practical alternative to it upgraded cousin, the Honda Civic, which has become heavier in terms of dimension and price.
The Honda City has great market potential in Australia with the increasing number of the population who are now taking a second look at sedans as a good alternative to hatches. Market experts at Honda are not only seeing demographics in their assessment of the market opportunities down under. An emerging segment in the market for sedans is comprised of Aussies that consider English as their second language.
This well styled sedan takes pole position when compared head-to-head with its closest competitor — the Toyota Yaris. When it comes to design integration, it draws more parallelism and commonality with Holden's Barina than with the Toyota sedan. The Honda City easily makes the grade with a lot to spare with its refinement, fuel efficiency, glam interior design, roomy interior and cargo capacity.
If there is one thing that will draw your attention to the new Honda City, it has got to be its refinement. You will be delightfully surprise at how it engine sounds. The engine is a soft purr and the only time you will know that it is actually running is when you step on the gas. The car scores high when it comes to picking ratios and ease in shifting.
Although the City has been primarily designed with the China and Indian markets in mind, there are still a lot of reasons why Australians should include the car in their short list of choices. This is specially so if you are intending to downsize to save on fuel consumption.
The Honda City does have the smart look and has a lot of premiums to offer. However, you will have to be swayed heavily by its advantages over its rivals like Kia Cerato, Nissan Tiida and, of course, Toyota Yaris to make the buy as it comes with a premium price range of $20,490 to $22,290.
